Jardin des Barroussières
A garden in Provence
Grasses rustle in the hilltop winds. The scent of rosemary carries across the pool. Banks of lavender spill into the wider landscape. Beside orchards of apricot and cherry, the sculpture La Femme en Bois emerges dappled in sunlight.
An exceptional sculpture garden, Les Barroussières invites the visitor to ramble along gravel paths, along fences woven of chestnut and hazel, and through beds of Mediterranean dry planting. Featuring over four hundred native species, the garden has been designed to surprise: the glint of a bronze wolf, the line of Ndary Lo’s Les Marcheurs against the backdrop of Mont Ventoux, or a moment of reflection at a tulip vessel, tucked into a corner beneath the white blossoms of an almond tree.
A source of inspiration for photographers over recent decades, Les Barroussières is a refuge and a living expression of art in nature.
